Math:
We began Unit 1 in Math last week and dove right into multiplication!! On Friday, we started to discuss division. We will be learning multiplication and division together this year. Be on the look out for a bright orange packet that will be coming home this week. It stays at home and is used to help your child practice their facts. It's a 3rd grade expectation that they have their math facts memorized by the end of the school year. Remember to have your child do XtraMath every night as well.
Homework comes home every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and is due the next morning.
Writing:
We started generating ideas last week for our personal narratives. Throughout the unit, students will choose a "seed" idea and work to develop a solid beginning, middle, and end of their story focusing around their seed idea.
Spelling/Grammar:
We will be beginning spelling/grammar this week. Spelling words will come home every Monday and they will also be posted on the blog. There will be a spelling test every Friday over the words. Grammar and spelling will be assessed through classroom activities, tests, and their writing pieces.
Social Studies:
We will begin our first Social Studies Unit this week: Michigan Geography! The students will be learning all about the state that they live in! This is a very important unit for the students to learn!
